This root is reconstructed in Weidert 1987:19. There is a perhaps fortuitous resemblance with Nepali khur-kənu ‘scrape off’ (cf. the Indo-Aryan etymon *KUR ‘scrape’ in Turner 1966:171), but in any case this could only have affected the Chepang and Dolakha Newar forms.
