Unlike the most widespread root for this concept, #2365 PTB *r-kəw ⪤ *hu STEAL, the present etymon seems to be confined to Kuki-Chin.
The putative Karenic cognates cited in STC p.144 now seem to belong rather with #2365 PTB *r-kəw ⪤ *hu STEAL, in view of Luangthongkhum’s recent Proto-Karen reconstruction *howᴮ.
