*ho(o)l

CHARCOAL

Notes

VanBik (2009) sets up a PKC binome may-ho(o)l, with the first element meaning ‘fire’.

This root bears some resemblance to #694 PTB *hul ⪤ *hwa(ː)l HEAT UP / BURN, one of a large number of co-allofams of the complex word family #6713 PTB *(p/b/h)(w/y)a(ː)(r/l/n/t) FIRE / BURN / SHINE / BRIGHT / LIGHT / WHITE.
