Notes

Several languages point to the presence of a palatal semivowel in this root (rGyalrongic, Tangkhulic, Atong, Anong, Tibetan), as well as in Chinese. WT shows clear-cut doublets with a ⪤ i vocalism, reflecting the presence or absence of the semivowel.
