STEDT #5665
*p-kur OR *k-pur
CARRY (on back)
Intermediate reconstructions
Northern Naga/Konyakian*ʔ-kur ‘CARRY’
Notes
Either reconstruction has something to be said for it. If the root was *p-kur, the rGyalrongic forms are straightforward reflexes, while the Kuki-Chin forms would show prefix pre-emption. On the other hand, if the root was *k-pur, we must assume simple prefix loss in Kuki-Chin, and metathesis in the rGyalrongic forms.
