Despite the fact that reflexes of this root show variation between initial b- and p-, between medial -r-, -y-, and -w-, and between final -n and -t and open syllables, we are referring them all to a single etymon. The second syllable of Lahu qɔ³¹pe³¹ definitely points to PLB *-an.
